The Club

This Grossmont College Theatre Arts production of "The Club" was directed by Clark Mires and staged in Room 247, the department’s primary performance venue at the time. The staging follows Eve Merriam’s original concept: an exclusive Edwardian men’s club (circa 1903–1905) where every male role is portrayed by women. The defining artistic device is gender-reversed casting, with top hats, white tie and tails worn by an all-female cast. Period-specific musical numbers and tap dancing underscore the satire of male smugness and superiority of the era. Choreography was by David Mullen, who joined the faculty that same year.
