Based on the play of the same name by A.P. Chekhov, the premiere took place in the Donbass Opera Theatre Lounge on March 22, 2019. Chekhov worked on the humorous play "The Bear" in 1888. Russian writer and memoirist A.S. Lazarev-Gruzinsky recalled: "...Chekhov once read us a very lively and cheerful little play. It was "The Bear," which he had just completed..." The writer's reading of the play—Chekhov rarely read aloud—testifies to the great importance he attached to it. The first production of the play "The Bear" took place on the stage of the Korsh Theatre on October 28, 1888. It was then presented at many venues.
