Solastalgia

In 2005, the Australian environmental philosopher Glenn Albrecht coined the term “solastalgia.” It combines the Latin word for solace (solacium) and the Greek root (algia) meaning sickness and pain. Unlike nostalgia, which refers to spatially and temporally distant dimensions, solastalgia names the pain experienced at the moment one realizes that the space one inhabits, the place one loves, is under attack.
