'Wilde Tales' is a world premiere youth opera commissioned by the Glimmerglass Festival. The production is a one-act work that integrates two of Oscar Wilde's classic short stories, "The Happy Prince" and "The Remarkable Rocket," into a cohesive musical narrative. It was specifically designed to feature the Glimmerglass Youth Chorus alongside members of the festival's Resident Artist Program. The artistic vision, led by director Francesca Zambello, emphasizes the thematic elements of sacrifice, vanity, and redemption found in Wilde's prose. The production features a vibrant visual landscape created by scenic designer Ryan McGettigan and costume designer Erik Teague, aimed at bringing the whimsical yet poignant world of Wilde to life for a multi-generational audience.
