San Diego Opera presented a one-night, drive-in holiday event combining a live sing-along with a screening of the filmed 2018 production of All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914. Designed for COVID-19 safety, the event took place at the Del Mar Fairgrounds parking lot, with audiences remaining in their vehicles. The evening opened with members of the San Diego Opera Chorus leading holiday favorites, accompanied by piano, encouraging patrons to sing from their cars. After the concert, the company screened the beautifully captured 2018 All Is Calm, originally recorded at the Balboa Theatre for a KPBS broadcast. Audio for both portions was delivered via an FM transmitter through car stereos. The filmed production was built by San Diego Opera and originally co-produced with Bodhi Tree Concerts and the SACRA/PROFANA choir.
