A show where sumptuous songs and frantic fiddle tunes mix with dazzling dance-moves and sassy sing-alongs through Celtic and Scandinavian folk music alongside pieces by composers such as Henry Purcell. Over the past 10–15 years, The Alehouse Sessions has developed into a cult-phenomenon in the classical music world, receiving international acclaim. The violinist Bjarte Eike and his merry companions recreate the sounds, stories, and spirit of a 17th-century English tavern, through humour, virtuosity, and a great deal of improvisation. Barokksolistene, an award-winning ensemble, works with borderless baroque and folk music, weaving humour, dance, drama, and ale drinking into their shows. Their energy is described as contagious.
