This production of Jeeps is part of Theater Ulm’s 2026/2027 season under the motto “Schwüre” (Oaths), focusing on the performativity and power of language, loyalties, and their fractures. Directed by Robert Teufel, the staging brings Nora Abdel-Maksoud’s fast-paced, dark comedy to the Podium stage. The production design by Friederike Meisel is expected to realize the setting of a typical German government office—specifically a job center—complete with numbered call-ups and bureaucratic forms. The artistic vision highlights the contrast between characters’ social standing and the absurdity of a system where wealth is no longer inherited through families but distributed via a state lottery. Dramaturgical support is provided by Peter Krauch to keep the play’s critique of meritocracy, privilege, and the welfare state at the center.
