Bodies of Water is a large-scale contemporary dance production presented as the concluding performance of the MAPAS 2026 (Market of Performing Arts of South Atlantic) programme at the Auditorio de Tenerife. Choreographed by Iván Pérez and performed by the Dance Theatre Heidelberg, the piece aligns with the festival's thematic exploration of the body as emotional, theatrical, and narrative material. The MAPAS 2026 dance programme is curated to offer contemporary responses to how bodies function onstage when confronting the intimate, the collective, the fictional, and the passage of time. As the finale of this six-production international series, Bodies of Water represents the festival's commitment to showcasing extreme physicality, expanded playwriting, and the hybridization of theatre and contemporary dance.
