Electric Touch

Electric Touch is the third contemporary choreography by the Movers, the young dance company of Oper Graz. This production explores the rapid evolution of communication in the digital age, where smartphones, emojis, social media, and artificial intelligences increasingly alter or replace human interactions and physical intimacy. The dancers of the Movers Ensemble investigate the effects of technological networking on relationships, identity, and control. The piece ventures into a future where artificial intelligences begin to dominate humanity, posing the question of who will retain the upper hand. While the evolution from ape to Homo sapiens took millions of years, the emergence of robots and virtual avatars in the 21st century seems like a quick blink in comparison.
