Melbourne Theatre Company presents a new staging of Anton Chekhov's tragicomedy, Uncle Vanya, directed by Artistic Director Anne-Louise Sarks. The production uses a contemporary adaptation by award-winning Australian playwright Joanna Murray-Smith, originally commissioned by Ensemble Theatre's Literary Fund. This adaptation reframes Chekhov's satirical examination of the 19th-century intellectual class for a modern audience while preserving the original spirit.
