At once a compendium, a tribute, a joyful grab bag and a trunk full of props, Contact is a live-music show that blends genres and disciplines. Its basic premise follows a troupe creating a musical, with the Faust myth providing the through-line for the act of creation. The performance unfolds in the rings of a freewheeling, exuberant underworld, mixing circus, revue and concert. The production brings together around fifteen multi-talented dancers, spanning generations with performers aged from 24 to 63. The staging draws on multiple sources, including Goethe’s Faust (in Gérard de Nerval’s translation), Murnau’s Faust, and Brian De Palma’s Phantom of the Paradise. Music is central to this musical, performed live on stage, reinforcing the sense of a “total show” in which every member of the team—from scenographers to video artists—contributes their own signature.
