Set in 1952 at Benjamin Britten’s house in Aldeburgh, Mark Ravenhill’s Ben and Imo follows the intense, witty and moving collaboration between Britten and Imogen Holst as he composes Gloriana for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Giorgos Skevas stages and translates this music-theatre portrait for the Greek National Opera Alternative Stage, with an original score and musical supervision by Simi Tsilali, designs by Yiannis Katranitsas and lighting by Christos Tziogkas. The production explores artistry, friendship and power dynamics under deadline pressure, and features the Greek National Opera Children’s Chorus (chorus master: Konstantina Pitsiakou).
