Spirited Away

Spirited Away is a touring concert by Simple Music Ensemble World, a chamber music collective founded by Grigory Volkov. The ensemble performs original arrangements of Joe Hisaishi’s score for Hayao Miyazaki’s 2001 animated film Spirited Away. This programme focuses entirely on live music—there is no film screening—and is designed to be family-friendly. The musicians present Hisaishi’s most evocative themes alongside new pieces by ensemble members inspired by the atmosphere of beloved animated films. The project highlights the artistic partnership between Miyazaki and Hisaishi, whose scores are composed in close dialogue with the animation. In Berlin, the concert is presented as a guest performance in the Philharmonie’s Chamber Music Hall (Kammermusiksaal). Admission opens 60 minutes before the start; late seating is not permitted.
