This production of Handel’s Saul opened ERSO’s SAAGA series, a program devoted to works with compelling histories and narratives. The event was jointly presented by the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra (ERSO) and the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir (EPCC). Daniel Reuss led the performance, bringing his seasoned Baroque expertise as EPCC’s artistic director and chief conductor. To ensure stylistic authenticity, a cast of acclaimed UK-based Handel interpreters was engaged for the principal roles. Critics noted the performance’s vividly operatic character, with clear dramatic locations, distinct personae, and strong narrative momentum.
