Suite for a Lake

A brand-new work receives its world premiere, written specifically for the Festival and embodying two hallmarks of this year’s edition: the centrality of Lake Maggiore and its islands, and a dialogue between classical music and other contemporary languages. Suite for a Lake is conceived and composed by Simone Locarni, this year’s artist in residence, on a suggestion by Artistic Director Mario Brunello as a tribute to Lake Maggiore. The programme brings together Quartetto Noûs with trumpet and piano, deliberately blending classical writing with jazz/world colours.
