A Night at the Opera

A student-led opera gala by the vocal students of the Norwegian Academy of Music (NMH), created by Greta Andersberg, Tea Ban, and Hannah Hunslund with support from NMH, CEMPE, and Opera til folket. The evening embraced a “forgotten, familiar, and festive” concept: the first half dug into rarely heard Norwegian operas and operettas (including works by Tveitt, Haarklou, Elling, and others), while the second half celebrated beloved numbers from the European canon (Puccini, Strauss, Verdi, Mozart, Bizet, and Johann Strauss II). The curatorial approach highlighted Norway’s operatic heritage alongside standard repertoire, promising an emotional and celebratory atmosphere where “tears will roll and costumes will flutter.”
