Transformation, identity, connection, space, and reality are central themes in choreographer Sedrig Verwoert's work. In his latest piece, Venus, he explores these concepts by returning to the core of dance within the ever-changing world. Created in collaboration with designer Bart Hess, Venus is a multidisciplinary experience designed to fully immerse the audience. Verwoert, along with a diverse group of dancers of varying ages, cultures, and backgrounds, investigates the meaning of connection. The performance features intimate duets that seamlessly transition into group sections, demonstrating how interconnectedness can transcend individual differences and reveal fundamental human similarities. The world of Venus is crafted as a dialogue between light, shadow, and spatiality, adding a new narrative dimension to the overall experience. This production marks Verwoert's final work as Young Creative Associate with Dutch National Ballet.
