Somaholidays is a 20-minute dance film conceived by choreographer Vilma Pitrinaitė and directed/shot by Marius Paplauskas. Presented in the New Baltic Dance 2020 film programme and hosted online by LRT Mediateka, the film reimagines Pitrinaitė’s stage piece (a Golden Stage Cross–nominated work) for the screen. Filmed in natural landscapes including the Curonian Spit, it focuses on collective physical ritual and an exploration of a “soma holiday” inspired by Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World. Music for the film is by composer Arūnas Periokas.
