Death and the Maiden has fascinated music and visual artists throughout the ages. Schubert's string quartet Der Tod und das Mädchen is perhaps the best known of the Romantic period's works on the subject. The String Quartet is like a four-part dance of death, delicate on the one hand and fiery on the other. The chamber music concert, performed in the atmospheric setting of the Old Town Hall, is completed with the piece Beyond Body and Soul by the Ukrainian Hanna Havrylets.
