The Orchestre de Pau Pays de Béarn opens a resolutely romantic symphonic season with a concert of contrasts and subtle shades. Led by music director Fayçal Karoui, the audience is invited to journey through the balance at the heart of every work, artist, and emotion: shadow and light. Titled Chiaroscuro, the program introduces a rarely performed composer in the opening (Elfrida Andrée) alongside two indispensable figures of the repertoire. Three voices of European Romanticism give musical form to a quest for equilibrium between doubt and hope, darkness and radiance. At the Pau performances, pre-concert talks are scheduled on site at 7:00 pm on Thursday and Friday, and at 5:00 pm on Saturday.
