Monade

About

Monade is a performance for a single dancer and an interactive visual and musical device. The piece examines the body’s place, its representation, constraints, and limits, probing the tension between exposure and concealment. Within a technological environment that becomes surprisingly organic, the body is by turns confined, perceived, glimpsed, imagined, and transformed. The scenography features a compact elevated stage fully draped in fabric whose translucency shifts with overhead light. This light responds in real time to floor sensors reacting to the electronic music and the performer’s movements. Rooted in Nice, the project brings together choreographer Laurence Marthouret and composer Patrick Marcland with company /TranS/ and local technical partners.
