“Encounters” is a landmark collaboration uniting the Macao Chinese Orchestra and the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra on stage for the first time. The concert explores a fusion of Chinese and Portuguese musical traditions, symbolized by the integration of the Portuguese guitar with traditional Chinese orchestral timbres. It reflects Macao’s intercultural fabric, balancing the retention of strong ethnic flavors with the possibilities of a modern large-scale Chinese orchestra.
