Amor’s Ease is a comic opera designed specifically for children aged 0–3, exploring themes of pain, comfort, and care through a playful baroque lens. The production transports audiences to the Baroque era with stylized costumes, gesture-based choreography, and delicate soundscapes that connect with very young children. Its intimate staging—often in foyer or front‑of‑house spaces—allows close interaction between performers and babies. The visual world features powdered wigs, white makeup, and stiffened silhouettes in bright, welcoming colors. The simple narrative loop shows how physical pain is soothed by breath, care, and ultimately by song. Eivind Buene’s music draws on the baroque while remaining clear and accessible for infants’ attention spans. Conceived by Christina Lindgren, the piece is frequently paired with Orpheus’ Comfort but also stands alone. The result is a gentle, humorous, and empathetic encounter between early opera aesthetics and the earliest audiences.
