This production is a specialized presentation of Arturas Bumšteinas's Navigations, adapted for the Barnas Ultima-dager (BUD) series. The performance centers on the reconstruction of historical “weather machines”—mechanical devices used in Baroque and ancient Greek theatre to simulate the sounds of nature before the advent of electricity. The artistic vision combines sound art with theatre history, allowing the audience to experience the mechanics of wind, rain, and thunder produced acoustically through wood and rotation. The staging places the audience in a circle around the performers and their machines, creating an immersive, open-space environment. The concept draws parallels between stagehands and sailors, framing the operation of these machines as a form of navigation where “sailors must listen to the weather.” This production is recommended for children aged 5 and up and is designed to demonstrate how simple mechanics can create complex atmospheric soundscapes.
