On Our Way (aka End Of The Line)

On Our Way (also titled End of the Line) is a short comic opera about youthful idealism, resilience, and the struggle to keep hope alive while chasing big dreams. Lasting roughly 28 minutes, it is written for four voices—soprano, tenor, baritone, and bass-baritone—and examines the pressure of expectations against professional setbacks. The piece appeared in two contrasting contexts in 2024: in Los Angeles as one of five new mini-operas in New Opera West’s Pop-Up Opera showcase, and in Englewood, Colorado as a retitled world premiere presented by Opera on Tap Colorado. In Englewood, its three scenes were interspersed with standard operatic arias to shape a full evening, staged in the relaxed, inclusive setting of Brewability, aligning with Opera on Tap’s mission to bring opera to non-traditional venues.
