Hiatus

HIATUS is Helder Seabra's first work for Theater Bremen, created with the newly formed Unusual Symptoms company. The production examines a hiatus as a gap or transitional space between one familiar order and the next. Its stated frame is the collapse of order into chaos, with chaos treated not only as an outcome but also as an instrument of manipulation and power. The staging combines dance, acting, and the music of Belgian multi-instrumentalist Stijn Vanmarsenille. It features seven dancers, one actor, and one musician on stage, using different physicalities to make a gap, rupture, or hiatus tangible. The production team includes Helder Seabra, choreography; Matthieu Götz, stage design; Alexandra Morales, costumes; Tim Schulten, lighting; Stijn Vanmarsenille, music; Gregor Runge, dramaturgy; and Andy Zondag, artistic collaboration. The movement piece uses English and Dutch text, but subtitles are not required because understanding every word is not central to the work.
