This production presents the modern premiere of the charming salon opera “Le mariage en poste” by Jean-Baptiste Weckerlin. The Alsatian composer enjoyed great success in 1850s Paris with his short operas, some of which were first performed at the soirées of his friend Rossini. The performance takes place even before the official opening of the festival. In addition to the opera, there is a scene set in Rossini’s salon featuring modern premieres of Rossini pieces, couplets, and songs. Purchase of the program booklet grants admission to the introductory talk one hour before curtain in the Forum König-Karls-Bad.
