The Handel Opera Project presents Mozart's beloved masterpiece, The Magic Flute, in the remarkable acoustic and architectural setting of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Berkeley. A stellar cast of 17 Bay Area musicians joins the combined voices of the Berkeley Community Chamber Singers and San Francisco's New Voices Trans, Intersex & Genderqueer Chorus. Conducted by Handel Opera Project founder William G. Ludtke, the performance honors the work's original Singspiel format, blending spoken dialogue with arias, ensembles, and choruses. This production invites audiences into a world where lighthearted comedy meets deep solemnity, offering an intimate encounter with Mozart’s timeless music and the opera’s playful yet profound spirit.
