Gooey's Toxic Aquatic Adventure

Presented by Lincoln Center in collaboration with The Bushwick Starr, this event previewed Gooey's Toxic Aquatic Adventure, a satirical, fabulist puppet musical by Afro-Dominican/Nuyorican artist La Daniella. The show follows Gooey, a "sorta mermaid" navigating a near-apocalyptic New York City, and uses gorgeously grotesque puppets to explore belonging, friendship, and community. Music and arrangements are by Ben Langhorst, with book and lyrics by La Daniella and additional lyrics by Langhorst. This Atrium performance offered excerpts as a public developmental showing ahead of a planned world premiere at The Bushwick Starr in February 2026. It was recommended for audiences ages 12 and up.
