Arabesque was a live concert by Jane Birkin recorded at the Cité de la musique on October 28, 2008, within the Les Années Gainsbourg cycle. Birkin interpreted songs by Serge Gainsbourg with an ensemble featuring violin, piano, and percussion, infusing oriental and Andalusian colors into Gainsbourg’s repertoire. The musical direction and orchestrations were led by violinist Djamel Ben Yelles. The set wove spoken introductions by Birkin between numbers to create an intimate narrative flow over 1 hour and 39 minutes.
