Messiah

The oratorio “The Messiah” by Georg Friedrich Handel (1685-1759) will be performed. Among all the oratorios by the great Baroque composer, which are both spiritual and partly secular in content, “The Messiah” occupies a special position. Not only is the short time it took to write it - just three weeks - remarkable, but also its content, as it is neither a secular oratorio with a depiction of historical events and people, nor a pure setting of biblical texts. “The Messiah” is based on biblical passages, but its central message is above all a deep and very personal religiosity.
