Resurgence

Resurgence is an un-staged solo piano recital presented by the Fondazione Accademia di Musica di Pinerolo e Torino, with Mariangela Vacatello as pianist. It is part of the Accademia’s 2025/26 concert season and replaces the originally announced Chopin op.10: Gravity program. The concept traces a path from Baroque clarity and Romantic classicism to modernity, starting with Bach and moving through Schubert to six pieces from Hans Werner Henze’s Album für Klavier. Henze’s album serves as the hinge of the program, a set of brief tributes written between 1966 and 1994. The recital also features two arrangements: Vacatello’s own piano transcription of Schubert’s Notturno per Trio and Liszt’s transcription of Isolde’s Liebestod from Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde.
