Choreographer Edward Clug boldly confronts the world's most beautiful love story with the epic dimensions of the music of the British alternative rock band Radiohead. In the ballet Radio and Juliet, he contrasts tender love with the cold, mechanized modern world. The production is noted for its minimalist aesthetic and contemporary movement language that reinterprets the Shakespearean tragedy through a modern lens. Since its premiere in 2005, the production has become a signature work for the SNG Maribor ballet ensemble, receiving international acclaim for its innovative fusion of rock music and contemporary ballet. The staging utilizes video elements and specific lighting designs to create a stark, atmospheric environment that reflects the emotional landscape of the music.
