Lyra is a collaborative, multidisciplinary production that merges acoustic and electroacoustic music with contemporary dance and film. Co-produced by The Living Earth Show and Post:ballet, the work was commissioned and presented by San Francisco Performances as part of its PIVOT series for adventurous audiences. It features an original score by 2019 Guggenheim Fellow Samuel Adams, performed live by guitarist Travis Andrews and percussionist Andy Meyerson. Vanessa Thiessen’s choreography and Robert Dekkers’ direction shape the visual and physical world, captured through Benjamin Tarquin’s cinematography. Dancers appear on screen amid California landscapes, integrating with the live musical performance. Christian Squires’ costumes blend ancient and futuristic aesthetics, creating a fluid sense of time and place. The production was designed for both in-person performance at the Taube Atrium Theater and digital streaming.
