Originally planned for 2020, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies' cult work "Eight Songs for a Mad King" will finally be heard in Turku on Friday, August 19. at 7 pm in the Sigyn hall. The role of the king is interpreted by the American baritone Thomas Florio. The libretto of the work is by Randolph Stown and it is based on the texts of King George III. The work is presented in English. In the beginning of the concert, music from the courts of kings will be heard, interpreted by Jukka Rautasalo, Heidi Peltoniemi and Eero Palviainen. The acclaimed conductor Petri Sakari.
