In the still of the night is a contemporary dance production that fuses highly virtuosic ballet with a strong cinematic vision. Set in a 1960s-inspired world, it uses a soundtrack of major hits from that era alongside classical and contemporary minimalist pieces. The aesthetic and costume design evoke the atmosphere of classic romantic and dance films such as Grease, Dirty Dancing, and Ghost. The production relies on visual storytelling, integrating video projections by Valeria Rebeck, The Black Cactus, and Otto to deepen the narrative. The artistic concept illuminates the protagonists’ emotional inner worlds through a dual-timeline approach that blends past and present. Created and performed by Lucía Lacarra and Matthew Golding, the work earned Lacarra the 2022 Max Award for Best Dance Performer.
