It's no surprise that Baroque opera, known for drawing on the stories of Greco-Roman mythology, boasts numerous compositions centered around Polyphemus, the son of Poseidon and the nymph Thoosa. Luigi De Donato, renowned and beloved for his portrayal of numerous dramatic roles in recent years, has collaborated with Vaclav Luks and his Collegium 1704 to craft a program around this one-eyed giant. Through his voice and charisma, he embodies the ideal representation of the character of Polyphemus, notably known for the painful encounter with the wandering Odysseus. At the 3rd Ambras Castle Concert, excerpts not only from Handel's renowned serenata «Aci, Galatea e Polifemo» will be performed but also rare pieces, including segments from Pietro Antonio Cesti's cantata «Il Polifemo».
