Fantasia is a 16-minute ballet by Hans van Manen created for Nederlands Dans Theater’s main company (NDT 1). Premiered on 15 April 1993 in The Hague, the work is an abstract choreography for six dancers. Van Manen sets the movement to three works by J.S. Bach, heard in part via Ferruccio Busoni’s celebrated piano transcriptions. The original creative team included Keso Dekker (sets and costumes) and Joop Caboort (lighting).
