The 2023 Broadway production of New York, New York is set in 1946 as postwar New York City surges back to life. Directed and choreographed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman, it features large-scale, high-energy song-and-dance numbers, including a striking tap sequence performed atop a suspended construction beam. The visual design team includes scenic designer Beowulf Boritt, costume designer Donna Zakowska, lighting designer Ken Billington, and sound designer Kai Harada, with Boritt and Christopher Ash providing co-projection design. The production earned nine Tony Award nominations and won Best Scenic Design of a Musical. Musically, it blends classic Kander and Ebb numbers, such as The World Goes 'Round and the title song New York, New York, with new contributions by John Kander and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Orchestrations and arrangements were supervised by Sam Davis, with music direction by Alvin Hough, Jr.
