Nocturno is a contemporary flamenco dance piece by Leonor Leal, conceived to be played and danced at night. Built for a trio of dancer, guitar, and percussion, it follows a sensory journey that moves between silence, pulse, and dreamlike states. Premiered at the Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla on 23 September 2018, the work has toured international festivals. Its creation focuses on the dialogue between body and sound, using live guitar and percussion to paint an atmospheric landscape. The staging blends flamenco’s rhythmic architecture with a contemporary scenic language, exploring the threshold just before sleep. Through light, shadow, and minimal scenic elements, the production evokes an inner space where rhythm, memory, and imagination intertwine. The work seeks to gently stretch flamenco’s boundaries while staying faithful to its musical heart.
