Phénix

About

Phénix is a choreographic piece for four dancers and one musician, premiered on September 25, 2022 at the Ambronay Festival. Born from an unusual encounter between the viola da gamba and dance, it places four dancers in dialogue with this 17th‑century string instrument. On stage, the performers also move to additional music by Arandel, amplifying the power of this unexpected pairing. The musician performs live on stage, continuing Mourad Merzouki’s approach of opening up and confronting different aesthetic worlds.
