Flora represents a bold new chapter in Australian performance, standing as the most significant collaboration to date between The Australian Ballet and Bangarra Dance Theatre. Commissioned by The Australian Ballet, the production unites an ensemble of over 35 dancers from both companies to explore the resilience of Australia's natural environment and its First Peoples. The artistic vision is driven by Mirning woman Frances Rings, Bangarra's Artistic Director and Co-CEO, who provides the distinctive choreography. The production design features dynamic costumes by Meriam Samsep woman Grace Lillian Lee, set design by Elizabeth Gadsby, and lighting by Karen Norris. The creative process was deeply informed by Cultural Consultant Matthew Doyle, a descendant of the Muruwari Aboriginal nation, ensuring authentic representation of intergenerational storytelling and ecological knowledge. The production is generously supported by Lady Potter AC CMRI and The David Hallberg Fund for Artistic Aspiration.
