Stabat Mater

Presented as a highlight of the XVI Macao International Music Festival, this concert performance of Rossini’s Stabat Mater took place in the Cathedral of the Nativity of Our Lady in Macau. The Orchestra Internazionale d’Italia performed with the Shanghai Opera House Chorus under conductor Francesc Bonnín. The cathedral’s resonant acoustics underscored the work’s interplay of solos, chorus, and orchestra. The orchestra’s participation formed part of its third tour in China, aligned with the 400th anniversary commemorations of Matteo Ricci’s arrival in Beijing.
