San Francisco Playhouse presents the regional premiere of Flex, written by Candrice Jones and directed by Margo Hall. The play channels the intensity of a 1990s high school basketball court into the theater, supported by basketball consultant Emmanuel Blackwell to ensure authentic athletic staging. A full creative team shapes the world of the play, including scenic design by Bill English, lighting by Ray Oppenheimer, and sound by Ray Archie. Flex centers themes of resilience, sisterhood, and collective strength, capturing the sharp rhythms of teenage banter and the drive of competition. The production also features inclusive access offerings in partnership with Gravity Access Services, including live audio description and haptic access tours on select dates. The show is produced under agreements with Actors’ Equity Association and United Scenic Artists.
