Hakan Savaş Mican adapts Ulrich Alexander Boschwitz’s 1939 novel “Der Reisende” into a stage play for Schauspiel Essen. The production weaves together dramatized scenes, text, live music, and film projections to tell the story in a layered theatrical language. The visual world is created by Alissa Kolbusch (set) and Miriam Marto (costumes), with video design by Benjamin Krieg and Sebastian Lempe. Musical direction is by Martin Engelbach and Kai Weiner, and the show features live musicians including Ceren Bozkurt and Kai Weiner. Dramaturgy is by Maximilian Löwenstein. Recommended for ages 16+, with content warnings for racist and antisemitic violence.
