For the 2025/26 season, Balletto di Roma revisits and restages the landmark Italian choreographic work “La dernière danse?”, the 1980s creation that cemented Micha Van Hoecke’s enduring success. This original restaging pays tribute to the late master, four years after his passing, bringing him back to the stage within one of Italy’s most prestigious cultural hubs that had long served as a creative home for him and his ensemble: the Ravenna Festival. The national premiere at Ravenna Festival (Teatro Alighieri) revived the 1982 original, filled with famous songs that have left indelible emotions, and underscores the company’s commitment to preserving and enhancing the great choreography of the twentieth century. Under the guidance of Miki Matsuse, Van Hoecke’s partner and assistant, the production becomes a journey through the labyrinth of memory, accompanied by the music of the choreographer’s youth.
