The Greek National Opera’s 73-year history at the Olympia Theatre came to an end with a semi-staged production of Rhea, the very work that inaugurated the company's residency at the theatre in 1944. This highly symbolic performance on May 19, 2017, honored the company's past before its move to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center. The production was led by conductor Byron Fidetzis, a champion of Samaras' work, and featured a cast of distinguished Greek soloists. The semi-staged format was directed by Nikos Diamantis, with costumes by Giorgos Patsas.
