Pinocho

A theatrical adaptation of Joël Pommerat’s Pinocho directed and translated by Fabiana Medina, produced with Colectivo Mukashi Mukashi and presented at Teatro Mayor. The staging blends masks, object theatre and a large child-size marionette to chart Pinocchio’s journey through allegorical and fantastical settings. Episodes evoke the whale’s belly, the country of fools, the field of miracles, a cabaret, a prison, and the home of a fairy-like figure. Visual design and puppet/mask work by Pierre-Yves Le Louarn shape quick scene changes and a strong psychological atmosphere. Original music by Maritza Cano supports the shifting tones and rhythms of the narrative. The production addresses both children and adults, balancing wonder with moral reflection. Originating from a grant-winning 2015 project connected to Teatro Jorge Eliécer Gaitán and IDARTES, the piece has become a family-oriented staple in Bogotá.
