A revival of Emilio Sagi’s acclaimed staging, this La corte de Faraón embraces the work’s sicalíptica, racy spirit with elegance and wit. The production highlights the score’s vaudeville energy and the piece’s flirtation with breaking the fourth wall, most memorably through Sul, a Babylonian slave played by a tenor in drag who engages the audience. Visually, Daniel Bianco’s sets and Gabriela Salaverri’s costumes deliver a lavish, colorful spectacle, while Eduardo Bravo’s lighting sculpts an opulent Egyptian world updated with playful modern touches. Under Carlos Aragón’s musical direction and with choreography by Nuria Castejón, the show moves at a brisk, theatrical pace that foregrounds comedy without sacrificing musical polish.
