A contemporary two-act ballet created by choreographer Krzysztof Pastor, Tristan reimagines Richard Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde for the stage through an orchestral arrangement by Henk de Vlieger. Premiered at Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera in Warsaw on 29 March 2009, the production fuses dance with a modern visual language. Sets by Katarzyna Nesteruk and costumes by noted Polish designer Maciej Zień shape a sleek, minimalist aesthetic. Advanced multimedia projections by Platige Image add a dynamic digital layer to the choreography, while lighting by Bogumił Palewicz heightens the atmosphere and narrative tension. The ballet relies on a large ensemble with alternating principal casts to meet the choreography’s high physical and dramatic demands.
